Step 1: Make a duct tape fabric
out of your favorite color(s) of duct tape. (See placemat
instructions,
steps 2-9 for fabric instructions.) For the dimensions of your
fabric, measure the length and width of each foot and add one
inch to all sides. Create one fabric large enough to fit both
feet.
Step 2: Placing one foot at
a time on the duct tape fabric, trace your foot to create
the base of your shoe. Repeat with
the other foot. Cut out the patterns.
Step 3: To create toe straps,
cut a piece of duct tape 12 inches in length. Fold the
strip in
half lengthwise. Then cut the same strip in half lengthwise
to make two thin 12-inch strips.
Step 4: Placing
your foot on each duct tape fabric, mark the point between
your first and second toe to determine where your
straps will connect to the shoe. Cut a small slit at the
mark measuring ¾ inches long.
Step 5: Take both 12-inch straps
and feed through the slit just long enough to tape down
to the bottom of the shoe.
Step 6: Flip the shoe over
so that the top faces up. Take one strap diagonally to
the left and
tape down underneath the bottom of the shoe. Be sure to leave
enough room to allow your foot to slide on the shoe easily.
Step 7: Repeat the process
with the other strap, taking it diagonally to the right
side of the shoe. Tape down underneath.
Step 8: Repeat steps 3-7 to
make the other flip flop.
Step 9: To make the shoes more
comfortable, simply use duct tape to attach craft foam
to the bottom of the shoes.
Cover the foam with duct tape and you are ready to go!
